I love adventuring into the archives. I always wanted to be some version of Indiana Jones, but without having to deal with real Nazis (so much for that). Though I did develop Indy’s love of knowledge and discovery. My work ranges from Hollywood history and censorship to social and political American history. If feathers were ruffled somewhere, I probably want to write about it.
Because we live in tumultuous times, nobody is immune to hardship. For me, it came when my university closed my college and severed my tenure (illegally) along with that of dozens of colleagues. This motivated me to open a Substack to find new avenues for my writing as well as a method to engage with other writers. Supporting this Substack (free or paid) will get you regular essays and updates from my research, commentary on current events as they connect to the past, as well as short podcast episodes.
Most importantly, thank you for stopping by!
